Catalog excerpt:

...If the A side is the immediately visible side of the picture plane where the artist shows his or her main style, then the B side is the space beneath the surface where certain murmurings have been ‘repressed’...

B note:

I have always had a fascination with moving images. I have experimented with films and videos, but not to any extensive degree, since paintings and other stationary images have dominated my work. Slowly and naturally, I have been working more with movie stills and subtitles as sources for my work. The piece “Rolling Fog” uses text, moving images, and sound. The video in the installation was made using my paintings and animating part of it to appear lifelike (i.e. a “moving” image in itself). From the movies, I have collected and assorted subtitles into a love poem. I treated the subtitles as images themselves, and composed the “love poem” in an attempt to mirror the process of transformation from the “Rolling Fog” video.
